\"[copertina]\" Il titolo del libro (Norbert Herrmann, The Beauty of Everyday Mathematics<\/em><\/a>, Springer-Copernicus 2012, pag. 138, € 5,47 (Kindle), ISBN 9788850226016) faceva pregustare qualcosa di piacevole, e bisogna dire che il tono con cui Herrman scrive \u00e8 indubbiamente piacevole.
\nPer\u00f2 se devo dirla tutta il libro non \u00e8 che mi sia piaiuto. Mettiamola cos\u00ec: dal mio punto di vista il titolo che avrei dato \u00e8 qualcosa tipo “The Beauty of Everyday Physics<\/b>“: la matematica c’\u00e8 s\u00ec ma sotto forma di formulacce che non finiscono pi\u00f9… il che \u00e8 normale, nessuno ha mai pensato che la matematica di questo tipo fosse semplice, per\u00f2 fa venire poca voglia di seguire il testo, anche perch\u00e9 comunque a volte sembra di essere nella barzelletta che fa l’approssimazione dei cavalli sferici :-) (mi riferisco ai problemi sul parcheggio, per la cronaca).
\nCi sono alcuni problemi venuti forse meglio, come l’ultimo sulla sovrapposizione dei sottobicchieri per la birra – ricordatevi che Herrmann \u00e8 tedesco, e su queste cose \u00e8 un esperto – ma in generale avrei preferito che le formule fossero meno prominenti. In fin dei conti scopo del libro \u00e8 mostrare come nella vita di tutti i giorni si possa trovare matematica, non di fare i conti espliciti.
