Per\u00f2 in questo caso (Paul J. Nahin, <a href=\"http:\/\/deastore.com\/book\/ean\/9780691146003.html\"><em>An Imaginary Tale: The Story of &radic;-1<\/em><\/a>, Princeton University Press 2010 [1998], pag. 269, $16.95, ISBN 978-0-691-14600-3) sono stato parecchio sfortunato.<br \/>\nDiciamo che ho apprezzato la prima met\u00e0 del libro, con i tentativi iniziali di dare un senso ai numeri insensati&#8230; pardon immaginari. Ma nella seconda parte Nahin si ricorda che la sua formazione \u00e8 quella di ingegnere elettromeccanico. Potete anche dire che io sono pieno di pregiudizi, ma sono troppo abituato a vedere vagonate di conti e poi scoprire che dall&#8217;altra parte c&#8217;\u00e8 un ingegnere. In un libro di testo i conti me li aspetto, ma in un&#8217;opera come questa, che afferma espressamente di non esserlo, vedere pagine e pagine di derivazioni formali che usano i numeri complessi per arrivare a dimostrare, magari in tre o quattro modi diversi, la stessa formula mi d\u00e0 una crisi di rigetto. Non credo proprio mi comprer\u00f2 il successivo libro di Nahin sulla costante <em>e<\/em>, insomma.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>troppi contacci per i miei
