Sono certo di averlo gi\u00e0 detto pi\u00f9 volte, e sono ancora pi\u00f9 certo di non essere n\u00e9 il primo n\u00e9 il solo a dirlo. Bene: questo libro (Jeffrey S. Rosenthal, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internetbookshop.it\/ser\/serdsp.asp?isbn=883042370X\">Le regole del caso &#8211; istruzioni per l&#8217;uso<\/a><\/em> [Struck by Lightning: The Curious World of Probabilities], Il Cammeo 458 &#8211; Longanesi 2006 [2005], pag. 305, &euro; 16, ISBN 88-304-2370-X, trad. Elisa Faravelli) fa un fantastico lavoro per addomesticare la bestiaccia. Innanzitutto, non ci sono praticamente formule: vengono dati i risultati, per dare al lettore un&#8217;idea, ma si punta molto sul lato qualitativo dei fatti. Gli esempi sono mostrati sotto forma di raccontini che potrebbero essere di vita reale: possono a volte sembrare un po&#8217; fuori di testa, soprattutto visto il loro stile colloquiale e le situazioni a volte buffe, ma hanno comunque un loro fascino. Anche il testo vero e proprio \u00e8 molto scorrevole, grazie anche all&#8217;ottima traduzione; spero risulti di piacevole lettura anche per chi matematico non \u00e8.
