Questo (Robert ed Ellen Kaplan, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.internetbookshop.it\/ame\/ser\/serdsp.asp?shop=1&amp;e=0195176065\"><em>The Art of the Infinite &#8211; The Pleasures of Mathematics<\/em><\/a>, Oxford University Press 2003, pag. 324, $16.95, ISBN 0-19-517606-5) \u00e8 strano sia per il suo tono, che alterna formule e dimostrazioni a passaggi quasi narrativi, che per i temi trattati, che racchiudono anche esempi di geometria euclidea e descrittiva dove l&#8217;infinito nel secondo caso \u00e8 almeno definito, ma nel primo no. Eppure quando si arriva alla fine ci si accorge che il libro ha una sua unit\u00e0 intrinseca, anche se confesso di avere trovato la sua prima parte un po&#8217; noiosa. Per fortuna ho proseguito nella lettura: alcuni argomenti sono trattati in maniera che non mi era mai capitato di vedere, e mi hanno dato degli spunti interessanti per comprendere meglio cosa sta davvero dietro a formalizzazioni come quella della geometria proiettiva o l&#8217;impossibilit\u00e0 di costruire con riga e compasso un eptagono
