\nPerch\u00e9 i numeri “naturali” – vale a dire non quelli antropomorfi, ma quelli ricavati dalle costanti di natura – sono cos\u00ec enormi o minuscoli? E queste “costanti”, sono davvero costanti? Sono indipendenti tra di loro? E cosa succederebbe all’universo se i loro valori fossero diversi? A tutte queste domande cerca di dare una risposta John Barrow in questo suo saggio dal titolo purtroppo maltradotto (John D. Barrow, I numeri dell’universo<\/em><\/a> [The constants of Nature, from Alpha to Omega], Mondadori – Oscar Saggi 2004 [2002], pag. 326, \u00808.80, ISBN 8804532483, trad. Tullio Cannillo) che cos\u00ec ripercorre la fisica teorica del ventesimo secolo, fino ad un accento della teoria delle superstringhe, dove veniamo a scoprire che il nostro universo potrebbe avere tutta una serie di dimensioni spaziali “impacchettate”. La prosa di Barrow \u00e8 davvero accattivante e ben tradotta, e permette al lettore di farsi un’idea davvero chiara di quale sia il significato intrinseco delle varie teorie scientifiche, e di perch\u00e9 il principio antropico (il fatto cio\u00e8 che viviamo in un universo perfettamente adatto alla vita) non sia necessariamente una stranezza. Mi resta per\u00f2 qualche dubbio su tutte le citazioni alle precedenti opere di Barrow, quasi come se volesse dire che non sta bene leggere questo suo libro senza sapere tutto il resto…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
