Luned\u00ec scorso Marco d’Itri<\/a> mi ha segnalato che la Springer aveva (silenziosamente) reso liberamente disponibili i PDF dei libri della sua serie “Graduate texts in mathematics” pi\u00f9 vecchi di dieci anni (cosa che per un testo tecnico di matematica \u00e8 solitamente irrilevante). I link effettivamente c’erano, ma la cosa mi lasci\u00f2 parecchio perplesso: e in effetti, come si pu\u00f2 leggere al link originale<\/a>, “Springer have pulled the free plug”: <\/p>\n

Inutile dire che tutto questo \u00e8 derivato da un errore compiuto da qualcuno alla Springer, e ancora pi\u00f9 inutile rimarcare che l’editore ha tutti i diritti di copyright su quei testi – che, come dicevo sopra, sono ancora utili per imparare cose: chiaro che non sono testi adatti a tutti, e probabilmente io farei fatica a leggerne la maggior parte. Quello che forse \u00e8 meno inutile \u00e8 ricordare che il prezzo che viene richiesto per acquistare legalmente una versione elettronica \u00e8 assurdo, e che questo scherzetto porter\u00e0 con buona probabilit\u00e0 meno<\/b> soldi a Springer. Un PDF legale a dieci dollari verrebbe probabilmente comprato; se costa 30-40 dollari \u00e8 pi\u00f9 facile che si vada a cercare uno dei torrent che sono gi\u00e0 stati creati da chi si \u00e8 lanciato a scaricare tutto immaginando che la pacchia sarebbe durata poco.
